TECH TIP OF THE MONTH

This tip will help you activate the built-in "Links" toolbar on your Internet Explorer Web browser. This will allow you to save your favorite sites for easy access from your web browser while showing colorful icons (logos) that many sites have created for their links.

First, make sure you have the links bar showing. Open Internet Explorer and click "View, toolbars" and make sure there is a check next to "Links". If not, click it and you should see the Links bar show up in the browser top.

Note: Go back (if needed) and UNCHECK "Lock the Toolbars" for now. Also, occasionally the "Links" toolbar shows up way over on the right and just the WORD "Links" shows. If this is the case, click it,hold and drag it down a little. This should make it show up below the address bar as seen in the illustration to the left.

There are a bunch of links on the toolbar that Microsoft adds during install. Right-click them one at a time and choose "Delete". You will be adding your own from now on!

Next, go to the site http://pvcchome.com or any site you wish to create a favorite link for.

Note: Once you go there, these instructions will disappear so either read and remember this step or print this page out.

Now click "Favorites,Add to Favorites" and choose to create the favorite in the folder LINKS.

You should now have a link for the Pine Valley Community Church showing in the links bar. The will be shown until you click it the first time. From now on, you should see the logo.

You can go back and "lock the toolbars" now so this "Links" toolbar will stay positioned. That's IT!! Not all websites have these icons but, many more are adding them.
